Today, Tengable, a revolutionary bio-convergence medical device company, and CorTec GmbH, a leading medical device manufacturer of implantable electrodes, components and active implantable technology, announced their strategic partnership. Combining cutting-edge neurological implants with a decade of medical device expertise, the partnership aims to restore sensation to patients worldwide.
CorTec is a leading developer and manufacturer of active implantable technologies. CorTec offers high-quality neurotechnology to industry and clinics for the development of novel therapies and medical devices.
Based in Freiburg, Germany, Cortec Neuro partners with innovative startups and large medical device companies to bring novel neurotech products to market.
Tengable is a bio-convergence medical device company developing miniaturized implants to restore sensation. Tengable’s devices harness kinetic energy from the body’s natural movements to generate an electrical charge, eliminating the need for an external power source.
Tengable is developing a new class of sensation restoration devices that are fully implantable, do not require an external power source, and harvest kinetic energy from the body’s natural movements to generate an electrical charge.
The company’s technology, based on Tribo Electric Nanao Generation, can potentially restore sensation for various conditions where people experience loss of sensation, including peripheral trauma, diabetic neuropathy, mastectomy, and more.
This collaboration will integrate CorTec’s extensive experience in medical device interfaces with Tengable’s pioneering neurotechnology, offering new hope to patients who have lost tactile feedback due to injury, surgery, or neurological conditions.
Tengable’s implant technology, which directly interfaces with the nervous system, has already garnered significant attention for its potential to revolutionize sensory restoration.
By mimicking natural nerve signals, the implant allows patients to regain the ability to feel, a critical component in performing everyday tasks and improving quality of life.
“We are thrilled to partner with CorTec, a leader in the neurotech space, to help advance our sensation restoration technology from prototype to product, CorTec’s expertise in implantable devices, electrodes and encapsulation technologies, combined with their state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities, will be instrumental in bringing our technology to market and transforming lives”
Shai Feinsod, CEO of Tengable
“Tengable’s innovative and disruptive technology has the potential to restore sensation and independence to so many in need, with our extensive background in medical device development, we will provide the necessary interface to the nerve as well as the sensors encapsulation, ensuring that this groundbreaking implant reaches its full potential in restoring sensation to patients."
Oliver Baertl, CEO of CorTec
The Israeli Innovation Authority, Galil Ofek Incubator, Tel Aviv University, Ramot, ARC, and Sheba Medical Center support Tengable’s technology.
The company was founded in 2022 by Dr. Amir Arami, chair of the hand surgery department at Sheba, and Professor Ben Maoz of the biomedical engineering faculty at Tel Aviv University to address the large unmet need for sensation restoration.
Tengable’s devices aim to give patients their lives back in a simple, safe, and affordable manner.
